National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) -Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs for Veterinary Healthcare Workers

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is a key federal agency of the United States. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Veterinary healthcare employees working where hazardous drugs are handled may face health risks.

Many of these workers treat small companion animals (primarily cats and dogs), but also larger ani¬mals such as horses, with antineo¬plastic and other drugs that may be hazardous to humans. NIOSH recommends establishing a pro¬gram to provide appropriate pro¬tective measures for veterinary healthcare workers exposed to hazardous drugs.

Tevadaptor® meets the NIOSH recommendations for the use of CSTDs in veterinary practice.
